EUROSENSORS 2018 – 9-12 September 2018 in Graz, Austria – a great success!
We are proud to have organized the 32nd Edition of the Eurosensors Conference series in Graz, Austria´s second largest city! 563 papers have been submitted – an acceptance rate of 80% has resulted in 135 contributed talks and 303 posters. Four plenary talks and eight invited talks have complemented the excellent scientific programme. The conference venue (University of Graz) has been a perfect site to host more than 550 participants from 49 nations, which made the EUROSENSORS 2018 a great success!
The EUROSENSORS 2018 started on Sunday, 9th September, with the traditional EUROSENSORS School “Sensors for Autonomous Driving”, where experts from the Graz University of Technology, Infineon AG, Kempten University of Applied Sciences, and AVL reported on “Sensors for Autonomous Driving” being the next big thing in automotive applications. The auditorium of the historic main building of the University of Graz offered the most beautiful and elegant atmosphere for the welcome reception.
The conference started officially on Monday, 10th September with two outstanding plenary talks from Zhong Lin Wang on novel nanosystems for energy harvesting, and Maria Chiara Carrozza on human-like sensing in robotics. The subsequent lectures have been organized in four parallel sessions allowing the attendees to switch between sessions. The afternoon was dedicated to the poster show, which was accompanied by snacks and drinks to stimulate discussion and interaction between the participants.
A most important topic of EUROSENSORS 2018 has been the accompanying exhibition with a total of 12 exhibitors, demonstrating the industrial relevance of this conference and serving as excellent platform for promoting the companies’ portfolio and for establishing direct links to a broad audience of experts.
The plenary talk from Rainer Blatt on quantum computing - a new technology for the information age - opened the second day of the conference on Tuesday, 11th September. A highlight has been the conference dinner on Tuesday evening at the top of "The Grazer Schlossberg" where the participants have enjoyed the best Austrian cuisine and magnificent views over the city.
Wednesday 12th September has started with a fascinating plenary talk from Daniel Prades, the EUROSENSORS Fellow 2017, on ultra-low-power chemical sensor devices.During the closing ceremony in the afternoon the winners of the three best posters have been awarded. Finally the famous EUROSENSORS trophy and flag have been handed over to Christofer Hierold and Juergen Brugger being the organizers of next years’ EUROSENSORS and Transducers 2019 in Berlin, Germany.
We want to thank all participants of the EUROSENSORS 2018 – you have made the conference a great success!
Yours sincerely,
